Pop Punk | Punk Rock

Pop punk is a genre of music which is loosely derived from classic punk rock which rose to fame in the early 1990s with bands such as Green Day and The Offspring. It has been continued on to the present day in various forms and the majority of the first pop punk bands to rise to fame are still continuing today.

From the poppiest pop punk of bands such as Green Day to ska pop punk such as Less Than Jake, it is a genre which contains lots of sub genres. In some cases, ‘emo’ can now come under the term of pop punk and it is still very much so a genre of music which is as popular as ever.

Whatever pop punk bands you are into, there is no doubting that it initially sprung from an influence of 1970’s punk rock, with poppier punk rock bands such as The Ramones bordering on being the very first pop punk bands, even though the genre has somewhat changed today. Pop punk is music that brings back memories of the summer and about having fun...you will not find dark music in the pop punk genre. If you haven’t yet checked it out ... do! You will certainly not be disappointed if you are looking for music to enjoy and have a good time to.
